Have you ever listened to someone because they sit in a position of authority—even when their life doesn't match their words?
The moment
Jesus speaks to the crowds and His disciples, pointing to the scribes and Pharisees who have taken the seat of Moses. He acknowledges their authority to teach, but warns that their example is not to be followed.
Where it points
Long before, Moses received the ten words on Sinai, and his authority passed to Joshua—who led Israel through the Jordan. The law given through Moses was a shadow of the perfect fulfillment in Christ, who came not to abolish but to complete.
For today
Today, honor the truth of God's word wherever it's spoken, but let your life be shaped by Christ alone—the one Teacher who fulfills every law.
