They ask, 'By what authority do you do these things?' But who gave them the right to question the Son of God?
Matthew 21:23
The moment
Jesus is teaching in the temple when the chief priests and elders confront Him, demanding to know His authority. He doesn't answer directly—He turns the question back on them.
Matthew 21:23-24
Where it points
Think of Joseph in Egypt, falsely accused and thrown into prison, yet the LORD was with him. In the same way, Jesus will be falsely accused and humiliated, but His humility leads to exaltation.
Genesis 39:1-23 · Matthew 26:59-60 · Philippians 2:8-9
For today
Today, when your authority or actions are questioned, don't defend yourself—trust that God's authority is at work, even in your humility.
